Welcome to Sun Ray Grill
We are a group of neighborhood restaurants in the New Orleans area. Our menu's tell a story of past travels and adventures across our wonderful world. It is a story told using the senses, by an earnest food loving beach bum.
My wife Julia & I are avid divers. We have spent time, over the years, wandering sea coasts around the globe in search of under water wonders and great food. I have used my culinary training to reinvent & recreate a lifetime of experiences for you in our restaurants. It is our belief that a restaurants success is rooted in an understanding that culinary expression is an art rather than a mere business.

Each of our locations is unique in design and cuisine, and offers its own menu and daily specials. Popular favorites can be found at all locations. Convenient parking and accessibility are also available to all. We offer a full bar where creative martinis, fresh juice margaritas, and tropical drinks are mixed with your favorite libations. Our wines are carefully selected to pair with our menu and offer excellent value.
Sun Ray Grill is a great place to gather with friends and family for special occasions. We can easily accommodate large groups and all of our restaurants offer private dining areas.

Welcome to Sun Ray Grill Gulf Coast. Our newest location in Kenner embraces the beaches of our own shores. Unique Southern dishes and Gulf Coast inspired cuisine. We have shut down our oyster bar until the effects of the BP oil leaks have been fully understood. We are using seafood sources outside the Gulf for crab and shrimp until further notice.

This location is housed in the former Delerno's, which was an Old Metairie institution dating back to the 1930's. It became our second location in 1999. Since then we have a been the neighborhood restaurant of Hog Alley.

This is where it all began back in the summer of 1996. Our original location in Gretna intended to bring dining experiences I collected on my around the globe travels to the neighborhood where I had grown up. Today we continue to bring a diverse mix of cooking styles that is uniquely Sun Ray Grill. We expanded the location in 2005 to bring more elbow room but our commitment to quality food and customer satisfaction has never wavered.

There's "lots to choose from" at these"consistent" New American siblings, and though each proffers a slightly diffrent menu, all offer a "delectable fusion" of Asian, Caribbean, Mediterranean, and Tex Mex flavors along with "great value for the dollar; the Warehouse District iteration has a vintage industrial air, while the Gretna and Metairie locations are swathed in beige-and -orange island decor. ZAGAT 2009 Very Good to Excellent.
“Unlike many of their colleagues in the area, the Deutsch's have succeeded with menus that hardly mention Cajun, Creole or fried food. They’ve offered, instead, a selection that varies from Thai barbecue chicken to pan roasted Fish and smoked duck and tasso quesadilla…… they share their culinary findings at moderate prices.” One strong recommendation: The pecan crusted chicken salad featuring Romaine lettuce, tomato, onion and cheddar cheese with Creole honey mustard topped with a sliced pecan crusted chicken breast. Watch also for the daily specials, such as the chicken and white beans. New Orleans is known for its red beans and rice, but white beans are preferred in some south Louisiana towns and these at Sun Ray are tough to top.
